A few months ago Facebook attempted to capture the social ‘micro-blog’ Twitter. Facebook is of course not finished growing at a company or as a social network so their attempted acquisicion of Twitter really made sense to me. It comes down to…eliminating the enemy. While I’m personally not that hard core unless it’s about God, family or country but I get it…you need to expand. I think it was a pretty dumb move by Twitter personally. I don’t see them in this for the long run at all. There are too many other social networks that are far superior to their current implementation. I mean…do I REALLY care if you’re at the airport waiting to get onboard? No. I mean NO! Wow, I’ve really managed to stray off course here so back to Facebook. They couldn’t land a deal with Twitter so they moved onto something I believe was a blessing in disguise. They’ve instead turned their heads toward FaceFeed. Like a guy on the rebound after he gets bored of his last girlfriend he moves onto the next best thing. (Calm down ladies its the Internet and a joke so simma). FaceFeed in my opinion has to have some of the brightest minds around. The founders were partly responsible for the development of Gmail, Google Maps and AdSense. Need I say more? With this one move, Facebook has managed to bring on board a team of developers that have built applications that have been used my MILLIONS of users. That experience will certainly benefit Facebook’s growth tremendously. Here’s the real kicker though: Facebook now offers the ability to search user updates in REAL TIME. Of course users have to opt into this function but still, this is seriously giving Facebook an upper hand on big names such as Google and Microsoft :)
